Although it would be fantastic for this to be Philly, I'd even meet you there,  I'm stuck on the NYC harbor.  Brooklyn, Manhattan, Hoboken NJ, Jersey City,  balloons..... I still like the battery, though with everything turned over, it's tough to prove.

In the water, to the right in the blue of the wave, I see a BD.  Brooklyn Dodgers maybe?  In the eagle at the top, when turned to the right, there's a dark K, and then a light NY with the maroon in the back of it.  I'm thinking about image5, the Bull and the C for Chicago.

but I have never thought that this lady is tied

And there are many loose ends that have a NY
tie, but then again NY has a little of everything.

I have not found a solid trail from point to point.

It's possible.  Trying to make out a name of a town or city is tough though.  Trying the lighter patterns in that part of the gown.

Here's a church in Bayonne NJ, from where you can see Lady Liberty, Manhattan, Ellis Island, Brooklyn, and it has it's own grey giant, the Bayonne Bridge.  Note the color of the domes.

Does the history of the church
make it distinctive and is it

I cannot find anything yet that would be considered distinctive about the church or Bayonne.  I do think it's remarkable with the angle of the church you have put up Forest.  You can almost set it right in the image.

I think the bubbles and the maroon and cream colors in the window are the keys here.  We can link Lady Liberty, one tower of the WTC, now maybe the domes.  The lats and longs for Bayonne are 40 and 74, but that pretty much covers the whole area.

Matching this with the other possible verse, #10, the grey giant, if Bayonne would be the local, coudn't be the tower.  The shadow would not cast that far.  It would have to be the bridge linking Bayonne to Statin Island.  S and the I.  You may think I'm hellucinating, but I see it clearly.  OK, so what do you guys think of the NJ written right to left?  Can anyone else justify this?

Interestingly, but maybe of no use,
the largest waterfall after Niagra,
is in this area as well... Great Falls.

The Great Falls are in Paterson NJ.  They even have a monument in the park for Alexander Hamilton there (Indies native).  No church that I can see, nor a "bookbinder".  Where are in the NYC Harbor for sure.  Where?  Paulus Hook Jersey City, Bayonne?

Went by our Bayonne church today.  If that is the church in the image, I think the casque would have to buried right there.  Unless it's a clue to get us in the vacinity.  Otherwise, you can see nothing else around but homes.  At the east end,oops, west end of West 28th in Bayonne is the Bayonne High School.  Colors, get this, maroon and cream.  Behind the school, on the waterfront to the Kill Van Kull River, is Veterans Park and Ahern Memorial Stadium.  Yet no whirring sound with cars abound.  No grey giant.  No weight and roots extended either.  Still more research to do before this church is discounted.  It just looks to perfect!

I think Fox is right here Trohn.  I THINK.  As always, we can't really know til it's dug up.  As for the green picket fence, seems there would be something like that in an image, like maybe image6.  When Fox brought up V5 for image12, it started to click, even though I had considered weight and roots for image2 a long time ago.  The roots give you the real literal piece you are looking for with the palmetto trees.  Yet, in my mind, it feels right for Battery Park.  Except for the "saved the site" part.  Can't really line that one up without a little reaching.

I'm looking at the grey giant for this one now because of the grey giant twin tower.  I don't think it is a bridge, but the trail, for now, is dictating that it could be, putting the literal piece (twin tower) on a shelf.  This church in Bayonne, like Forest wrote, is the best match I've seen and I was hoping that it would hit me square in the face when I got there.  It didn't, but I actually enjoyed the trip.

With a wife and three kids, time is very valuable so the going is slow.  Alas, I could really use some help on the recon.  This is a big area and the traffic stinks, plus we lead the country in toll roads.  Thanks to you all that it is still fun and there is still hope.

I do not think you have to apologize for taking your time

While it is true that we will not know for sure until something
is unearthed, I am trying not to settle in my head a verse for an
image for a general location - only after all the pieces fall into place.

Just seems with time alasping, some clues provided could point to many
general locations.  If we used a dart board, I am sure we could get some
aspect of most verses to fit into the random target.

I do like the Bayonne church, just the location stinks as far as logic is
concerned.  Just no where to bury it. 

I wish we could nail down a good location in Canada with a verse and an
image - that would help our remaining US possibiliites.

(FWIW - I like Egbert's approach - find one and not get obsessed about
finding a second )  Plenty to go around....

Even if the church silhouette is the one in Bayonne, BP may have included it just to establish the Russian theme for Image 12. It may have nothing to do with the casque location.
