Brilliant Stercox....& a big welcome indeed to Sawdusty!

I dont check the boards for a couple of days and then this....Wow!

Still perusing Stercox's massive photo album so I apologize in advance if this is followed by numerous posts w/ different ideas.

Trohn...I really like your comment on "moonlight in teardrops" possibly linking to silver salt.  Very creative.

I too think that we are missing an important piece to the puzzle which (in my humble opinion) is hidden in the large rock of P6.  So..
(1) is there any possible way that the casque may be buried outside of FOY's walls?  Looking @ 18 of 40 in St. Aug pix..the wall appears very similar to the large rock.  If not outside the walls...how about just w/in the confines of the park next to the wall?

(2) one thing I noticed long ago but can not seem to find any mention of in these posts is the steps.  Hard to locate in the P but once found, seem fairly obvious.  Below the jewel is a lightly shaded area (which also may be something but cant quite make it out..possibly a face looking downwards?????).  Directly below this area of the P is what appears to be a set of about 3 or 4 stone/cement steps leading upwards across the page from right to left.  Is there an area of the park, such as a garden area or near the obelisk, that has a small set of steps?  Possibly something to look for.

No need for apologies Stercox.  We all know that you are not trying to discover this casque as your own.  The situation is understandable and we hope that you bring to light the 3rd of 12 casques....  Keep up those visits and everyone else, keep tossing out ideas, no matter how wacky you may feel them to be.  WE are getting VERY close to this one....let's get it.

Thank you for this adventure BP.

#28 of 40 St Aug Pix:  Nice little map.  Just how big is the park?  Would it possible to hear the geese honking if you were standing by the green picket fence at the bottom of the map?  There is that poor lonely tree in the lower right corner...right next to our green picket fence and the rock wall I mentioned above.

I really do think that nearby the burial site will be something...outside wall, wall of planetarium,etc.. that will have some of the exact designs seen in the P6 rock...  :-\

Trohn, the duck pond was there during BP's time and to get to it (it might be on the yellow map) (I can't access Stercox's photo album) walk straight down from the springhouse, The Indian statue would be off to your right, keep walking straight and you will see a little picnic area and then the duck pond. It did not have the little "dog house" and did not have a Rhea back then either.

Sawdusty,  what a thrill it is to have someone so familiar with a site and to be so close.
It's almost as cool as finding a casque itself.  Welcome!!
I wonder if you or Stercox ever concidered it this way: Near men with wind rose,
behind bending branches, and a green picket fence at the base of a tall tree.

Meaning, the casque is behind the fence located at the base of the tree with bending branches.

A tree is a tree is a tree.  Trohn, if you were buring a casque in somewhat of a hurry,
would you chop through giant roots to do it?
When you come to a fork in the road, take it.

Sawdusty....how "exact" is the area around the planetarium (and the planetarium itself) compared to when BP would have been around?  The reason I ask......?.......

"years pass, rain falls"

#30 of 40 St Aug pix....  what better place for rain to fall than down a rain spout clearly seen in this pic?  I would also bet that constant rainwater gathering at the base of this spout would surely keep the grass growing tall.  Lot's of grass clipping/mowing in that area, huh?

exactly what I had in mind Boogie.  Is this statue anywhere near the planetarium?... if not, is it on the path to it?

EXACTLY my thoughts.  And why I question the use of 'base'.

What if the 'tall tree' has no roots but has a base -
think potted tree/or a tree representation.  But it would have to
be something permanent/pronounced for BP to have selected it.

Fox, the park is 15 acres and you probably could have heard the geese honking from anywhere in the park. We had to remove the geese since they like to bite people but we do have a flock of peacocks and you can hear them all over the park. (The peacocks were not there at BP's time) The planetarium is just like it was at the time. The dome has been repainted but the same color as before. We dug in the downspout area and can tell you, it is not there unless it is under some massive tree roots. On the other side of the planetarium we cannot dig..the owners family pet (Bitsey) is buried there and they have asked us not to dig in that area. Actually, at the time of the dig there was not a lot of grass growing there...mostly dollar weed. There is alot of tall weeds/grass that grows next to the inside wall all around the park, lots of that contains stinging nettle..not a fun weed at all. The only thing that is not there now is the goose pen and there was another big tree on the left front side where there is a wooden platform now. There was also a smaller tree on the right side and more toward the green fence that got blown down in a hurricane.

the signs for the large clay pots (tinajones) mention "rainwater" specifically also...

again, sorry...just throwing out a flurry on nonrelated ideas in hopes something may stick.

Does anyone know if the root systems of palm trees permit easy digging next to the trunk (unlike oaks)?

Thanks SD.  Nice palm trees in photo of photo in #21 of 117...which is found inside the springhouse.  Is that a faint outline of a rocky island seen in the distance past the center palm?

on the way to the obelisk but to the left??

The ponce statue is located near the water and the planetarium is all the way at the other end of the park near the exit gate.
